Dating safety and member verification
Verification, privacy controls and member tools designed to create a safer environment — not a guarantee, but a foundation built into the platform.
How verification works
Before a profile can interact on Spicy Pineapples, members complete age verification and an authenticity review. Age checks are intended to confirm that members are consenting adults. Authenticity review is designed to help reduce fake, duplicate and misleading profiles by confirming that the person behind the account matches the information they provide.
Verification helps reduce fake profiles, but it cannot guarantee a person’s identity, intentions or behaviour outside the platform. It is one layer of protection — not a substitute for your own judgement. Learn how member verification works.
Profile and photo privacy
Spicy Pineapples is privacy-focused. Members can control how much of their profile is visible, who can message them, and whether they appear in member search. Where supported, you can:
- Adjust profile visibility and search appearance
- Keep sensitive location details off public profiles — approximate areas are shown rather than exact addresses
- Use private albums and grant access to specific members
- Request access to another member’s private album rather than viewing it by default
- Hide your profile from search temporarily
- Control online status and last-active visibility in settings
Think carefully about identifiable details in public photos — faces, tattoos, number plates, workplace backgrounds and distinctive home features can reveal more than you intend. Read our privacy policy and the guide on protecting your privacy on dating platforms.
Reporting and moderation
Members can report profiles, messages, media and meets that breach our community rules. Reports are reviewed by our moderation team.
Depending on the circumstances, we may take actions including warnings, restrictions, requests for re-verification, suspension, content removal or permanent account removal. For privacy and safety reasons, we may not always disclose the outcome of a report to the person who raised it.
See our reporting policy for more detail. If you need help, contact us.
Blocking unwanted contact
If another member makes you uncomfortable, you can block them. Blocking is designed to stop further direct contact through the platform’s messaging and interaction features. It is a practical tool — use it early if something does not feel right.
Blocking does not remove past messages you have already seen, and it cannot control behaviour outside Spicy Pineapples. Keep copies of concerning messages if you need them for a report.
Safer first meetings
Meeting in person carries risks on any platform. Practical steps that many members find helpful include:
- Meet in a public place first
- Arrange your own transport so you can leave independently
- Tell a trusted person where you are going and when you expect to be back
- Keep control of your drinks and personal belongings
- Do not feel pressured to share more than you are comfortable with
- Confirm boundaries and expectations before you meet
- Leave if you feel uncomfortable — you do not owe anyone an explanation
Read our meeting safety guidance and the guide on arranging a safer first meet.
Consent and boundaries
Spicy Pineapples is a consent-led community. Consent should be informed, enthusiastic, specific and reversible. Agreeing to one activity does not imply consent to another, and consent given on a previous occasion does not apply automatically in future.
Discuss boundaries clearly — especially for couples — and respect a “no” at any point. Our consent policy sets expectations for member conduct.
Emergencies
Spicy Pineapples is not an emergency service. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact the emergency services on 999 in the UK.
For non-emergency police matters in England, Scotland and Wales, you can call 101. Use the platform’s reporting tools for community concerns that are not emergencies.
Re-verification and account review
Members may be asked to re-verify periodically — currently every 6 months — to help keep profiles current. We may also request re-verification after suspicious activity, significant account changes or safety concerns.
Accounts with expired verification or an outstanding re-verification requirement may have reduced access until the process is completed. Suspended, restricted or banned accounts are not shown as active public profiles.
