How Spicy Pineapples Member Verification Works

Verification helps reduce fake and duplicate profiles, but it cannot guarantee a member’s intentions, conduct or identity outside the platform.

Abandoned accounts, misleading information and low-effort profiles are common frustrations in online dating. Spicy Pineapples uses a structured verification process that every member must complete before their account can interact on the platform. Only members with approved, active account status appear in member search and public profile browsing.

Our approach has two core stages: age verification and authenticity review. Age verification is intended to confirm that members are consenting adults. Authenticity review is designed to check that the person behind the account matches the profile information provided. For couple profiles, verification confirms that both partners are involved and have consented to being represented on the platform.

Members may be asked to re-verify every 6 months, or sooner if there are safety concerns or significant account changes. This helps keep profiles current and supports a more up-to-date membership base.

• Age verification — confirms members are 18 or over. During early launch, checks may be reviewed manually by our team.
• Authenticity review — a short verification video with a randomly generated on-screen code, reviewed by our team before membership is activated.
• Couple profiles — verification must show both partners and confirm joint consent. Couple accounts are not activated until verification is approved.
• Admin review — applications are reviewed before full member access is granted.

• Verification does not prove good character or safe behaviour in person.
• A passed check does not mean a member will always follow community rules.
• Verification cannot detect all misrepresentation, catfishing attempts or coerced participation.
• Members should still use judgement, set boundaries, and report concerns.

Couple profiles must show that both partners are aware of and consent to the account. Depending on the application, this may be completed through a joint verification video where both partners are visible, with checks that both people are represented accurately.

A couple profile is not activated for public member features until verification is approved and the account reaches active status. Read more about couples on Spicy Pineapples.

If verification is rejected, you will be notified with guidance on what to correct — for example, if the verification code was not clearly visible or both partners were not shown on a couple video. You can submit a new verification video after addressing the issue.

Accounts that do not pass verification cannot browse, message or appear in member search. Restricted or suspended accounts likewise lose public visibility.

Verification media and related records are stored securely and used only for verification, moderation and safety purposes. Other members see a verification indicator on approved profiles — not the underlying video or documents.

Verification material is retained for a limited period after review (currently 30 days, subject to operational and legal requirements) before scheduled deletion where appropriate. See our privacy policy and age verification policy for more detail.

Members cannot change their own verification status through profile settings. Verification badges and status are set only through server-side review.

Periodic re-verification helps reduce abandoned and outdated profiles. Members are notified when re-verification is due. Accounts with expired verification or an outstanding re-verification flag may have reduced access until the process is completed.
